Early-stage startups need technical decisions long before they can afford a full-time CTO. Which stack, which agency, which first hire, what to build now and what to fake. I work as a fractional CTO: a few hours a week of senior technical leadership, with hands on the code when needed.
What I take on
- Architecture and stack — choices that let you ship the MVP fast without painting you into a corner.
- Reviewing agencies and freelancers — estimates, code quality and whether you are paying for what you get.
- Hiring — writing the role, interviewing and onboarding your first developers.
- Investor and partner questions — technical due diligence, roadmap and the “how does it scale” answers.
- Building — prototypes and critical pieces I write myself, when that is faster than delegating.
Background
21 years building software end to end — web, mobile, AI, games and infrastructure — including running my own studio and servers. I have been on both sides: the founder paying the bill and the developer writing the code.
How it works
A fixed number of hours per month, a weekly check-in and async availability in between. We start with a short audit of where your product and tech stand, then agree on what I own.
Good fit if
You are a non-technical founder or a small team about to make expensive technical decisions, and you want an experienced person in your corner without a full-time salary.
Tell me where the startup is and what decision is coming up.
